I was wondering, what is the earliest commentary/exposition of Romans 9 within the early church? I have heard that Origen wrote a commentary on it; is that
the earliest? And, within that earliest commentary, how do they interpret what Paul is saying?

Hi Guys,

In Romans 8:29 the Greek word for foreknow is Proginosko, this word also appears in Acts 26:5 where it is used as the Jews knowing Paul from the beginning. We know they did not know Paul from the foundation of the world, Paul also qualifies this statement with the preceeding verse in which He says the Jews knew him from his youth.
Ok, so I'm currently going through a huge spiritual struggle involving Calvinism/Arminianism, and it's driving me crazy. Here is my issue: I cannot seem to find Scriptural evidence to support the Arminian case, which is the one I've always believed. It comes down to a difference in the character and heart of God; in my mind, if the Arminian case is true, God is loving and kind and more wonderful than we could ever imagine. That's the God I fell in love with. If, however, the Calvinist case is...
